In the late fifties there were two very active car clubs in the Oshawa area. The Kontinentals Rod and Custom Car Club and The Igniters Rod and Custom Club. The two clubs joined forces and become the Motor City Car Club. In 2009, the Motor City Car Club celebrated its Fiftieth Anniversary.
