Todd DeHate and John Sweeney founded Turbo Charging Dynamics in the spring of 2003. The partnership brings together a diehard horsepower junkie and an experienced fabricator who have always admired BMWs for their pleasant road manners, simplicity and durability but longed for big horsepower. In the late 70s and early 80s, American BMW Tuners Callaway, Cartech and Dinan all produced turbo kits for the BMWs of the day. In most cases the kits were designed for cars produced prior to the introduction of ABS and for the e12 chassis. Making any of these kits fit in the newer cars is a real challenge. Todd’s frustration with finding a kit that would fit the e28 led him to the goal of producing a modern kit that actually fits the e28/e24 and other newer applications. John’s ability as a fabricator has made this possible. Turbo Charging Dynamics is the result of Todd’s desire and Todd and John’s collaboration. Ten years later the limits of stock and well used BMW engines continue to amaze the crew at TCD. It’s a great to be able to take a 18 year old BMW with 200+k miles on it, add a MLS headgasket, head studs and a TCD turbo kit and have a car that’s quicker and faster than a 2006 M5!
