SOLD: 1961 DAIMLER SP250. 1961 Daimler SP-250. This Daimler SP-250 was purchased new in Toronto, Canada at O’Donnell Mackie Motors in 1961. The second owner bought the car in the spring of 1964.
Starting in 1995, the son of the second owner began a complete body off restoration to the original factory specifications. All parts were sourced in the U.K. The engine was completely rebuilt including new pistons +.030, bearings, stainless steel valves and was balanced from the clutch to the cooling fan blades. Every nut and bolt was re-done. It runs like a watch.
The paint was matched to the original factory colour (red) and the interior was supplied by Bryan Purves from the U.K., who specializes in SP250s. The interior is Connelly leather hide in the original Daimler orange/tan colour. Note originally the SP did not have leather in the back seat and trim. This car now does. The restoration was completed in the summer of 1997. The car has approx. 11,000 miles on it since the restoration. The car comes complete with 2 original leather bound driver’s handbooks as well as the original Workshop manual. In the last 3 years, the front end suspension (trunnions), fuel pump, clutch and clutch cylinder have been redone.
The car is completely mechanically refreshed, and the cosmetics from the 1997 restoration are still in great shape (but not perfect). All bills and receipts for parts are supplied as well as supplier information and contacts. A complete historical record of the restoration including photos (non digital) is available. The car has the original factory hard top (also red), convertible top (original) and tonneau cover (original) and hood bag.
